So hey, the wife and I are starting a comic store. And how are you doing?

So I’ve finally announced Variant Edition. It’s something that’s been a long time coming, having it’s roots in the #YEGgeek hashtag that I started spreading after receiving a bit of local attention quite a few years ago. Originally, the hashtag was going to be a prelude to an organization. This failed to happen for a myriad of different reasons, but the idea still stuck with me. So yeah, now it’s Variant Edition, a one-man operation bent on recommending comics to the masses without judgement or back biting. The site officially launches on August 1st (my birthday) and there’s a lot of prep work to be done between now and then – but man, am I excited for what’s to come.

A few secret tidbits for those who follow this blog: during the opening week, I’m going to be showcasing a great up and coming talent who has a mini-series coming out from a small publisher in the coming weeks, and as a cool bonus, I’ve been given the go ahead to hand out their first published work for free on the site as we promote the new book. Crazy, right? Whelp, that’s the kind of thing we’ll be doing. Crazy shit. Are you ready?
